Glass dimensioning according to DIN 18008
This software package serves also for dimensioning the glass thickness, but is not, as often assumed, a further development of GLASTIK Standard! GLASTIK Professional was created for special calculations of glass applications and only for use by specialists. The calculation basis is principally the “Finite Elements”-method, according to which each pane has to be split mathematically into the smallest units which have to be defined, in order to analize then the loads of the panes and their reaction at each spot. In order to determine such calculation results there has a variety of parameters to be entered and the calculation must be considered professionally analized. Thus no software for the selling glass expert like Standard but rather for the statically evaluating glass specialist or engineer.
Also the result prints are deviating, very detailed and allow on request to see even three dimensional distortion situations of the pane under load.
Thanks to the variable input possibility the software is not only interesting for the German market, as country specific requirements can be determined individually and may be integrated. All necessary norms are of course integrated so that any pane geometry can be shown and calculated above all.
The main innovation in the 3.0 version is the new net generator, a so called Free-Mesher. Thereby each imaginable geometry is now calculable. In the version 1.1 the calculation was still bound to geometric basic forms, like for example circle, square or pentagon. This constraint is inapplicable with the 2.0 version. One can calculate now, for example, also semicircles, model disks with rounded off corners but also sectors, cuttings and cutback. This is due to the built-in "Free-Mesher" grid generator, which automatically generates an calculation grid in according of an individual defined mesh.
Another improvement in the basic version next to edge mounting and point supported systems is an additional mounting possibility. 4 freely definable bearing stripes per geometry can now be chosen. A classic employment for such bearing stripes is for example the insulated glass with stepped edges, where 4 edges are mounted against pressure but only 3 of them against pull.
Like in the standard package, the DIN EN 1990 and 1991 and also the DIN 18008 is fully integrated. All loads may be preset manually or they are automatically defined by relevant input masks. A complete revision of the geodetic data for Germany which are integrated in the program, was necessary to record the new wind load zones and the modified snow load zones.
A special calculation possibility for laminated safety glass was created for specialists in version 3.0 of GLASTIK Professional. A sophisticated user has the possibility by the input of a factor to take the shear compound into consideration. A favourably effective shear compound is normally not considered due to the legal situation in Germany. This can be changed now.
